Puppy Play Socialization
During our puppy socializing time, your puppy will socialize with other puppies, with people, work on bite inhibition, learn what is appropriate play and how to read other puppies’ body language when they need a break. We will also work on confidence, handling skills and guide you in how to socialize your puppy outside of the classroom. Additionally, we will guide you in how to call your puppy back to you and then send them back to play.
Puppies are welcome to join from 10 weeks of age and must have their age appropriate vaccinations up-to-date. This class does not substitute Basic Obedience. We highly recommend enrolling in our 5 Week Pawlite Paws – Basic Obedience class.
Our Puppy Play is on a drop-in basis. Each session is 55 minutes and your attendance does not have to be consecutive.

Puppy Play FAQs
After purchasing a 5-session pack, you are welcome to attend the puppy play at your leisure. Just be sure to email us a copy of your puppy’s vaccination records and review the Puppy Play Welcome Letter for additional information about what to bring to class.
Upon arrival the first day, our trainer will have a punch card for you and your puppy. Please keep your card and bring it to every puppy play session so our trainer can punch your card. We can’t keep track of how many sessions you have left and therefore can’t replace any lost or stolen cards. If you forget your punch card we have the option to purchase a single session for $30 via cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.
You don’t have to show up for 5 consecutive weeks and you can even attend puppy play on the different days of the week that we offer them.
Once your 5 punches are up, you are welcome to purchase another card.
This is not a drop off class. You should stay with your dog as you are an integral part of helping your dog to learn. Please bring treats to puppy play to reward your puppy’s good behaviors.
We run are Puppy Plays in conjunction with our Obedience classes and list dates skipped above under Puppy Play Dates
Additionally, if we skip a week for a holiday, we will announce that on our FB page and your trainer will announce any upcoming breaks in advance in class.
If you are not sure, please contact us a few days ahead via email or phone. (We can’t guarantee same day response.)
First, please either register for puppy play above (payment not required to complete registration & sign our online waiver). Once we receive your registration for play, we’ll send you a welcome letter detailing everything you need in order to be best prepared for class!
However, in summary, you will need to bring:
- your puppy’s current vaccination records that are up-to-date with their age appropriate vaccines (or email them no less than 24 hours prior to class);
- your pup’s favorite treats;
- a leash and collar or harness (harness recommended);
- bowl & water (water will also be available in class, but not bowls);
- payment (check or cash) if a payment was not completed online 24 hours prior to class;
- your punch card, once you receive it from your first session.
We usually have anywhere from 3 to 9 puppies in Puppy Socialization. However, due to the drop-in nature of the class, this number can vary.
Early socialization is essential for the healthy growth of your puppy and is crucial in preventing behavioral issues in the future.
It’s been a debate between veterinarians for decades whether to start socialization earlier or to wait until the puppy has received vaccines. However, it has been the wide-spread opinion that it’s better for puppies to be socialized as soon as possible. According to the AVSAB (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior), the first three months is the primary window of opportunity for puppies to adapt to new people, animals, and experiences and it is in the first 3 months that sociability outweighs fear.
With that being said, it is very important for us that all puppies are safe while socializing and building confidence. Here is what we do to ensure this:
- We require that puppies are up to date on their age appropriate vaccines before they can attend puppy play.
- We also clean the play area with Top Performance 256 (which eliminates more than 50 viruses, including canine influenza, canine parvovirus and giardia) in order to disinfect and deodorize the play area.
Unfortunately, we are unable to refund Puppy Play class once a punch card has been issued.
However, we are able to credit the remaining amount from your Punch Card to other training, including group classes and In-Home Training once the punch card has been returned. If you would like to transfer your remaining punches to training credit, please reach out to us at waggingpawsibilities@gmail.com.
Don’t worry! These things happen. If you forget your punch card, it is possible to purchase a single puppy play for $30 at the beginning of the session via cash, check or Venmo.
If you plan on paying via Venmo @ EthanBonen ( 7 7 1 4 ), our trainer will verify the payment when they punch cards around the room before class starts. Please have the application open when our trainer reaches you to expedite the process.
Checks can be made out to Wagging Pawsibilities Dog Training.
For cash, our trainers do not carry cash, so please be sure to have exact change.
